NPP Cuts Ties with TV3, 3 FM, and Onua FM, Citing Bias and Unprofessional Conduct

Party Accuses Media General of Unfair Coverage and Failure to Address Repeated Complaints of Host Misbehavior

Story Highlights
  • NPP withdraws from Media General platforms after months of unresolved complaints
  • Allegations of biased political paneling and unmoderated disrespectful comments
  • Party calls for more balanced and professional media coverage in the future

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its immediate withdrawal from all Media General platforms, including TV3, 3 FM, and Onua FM, citing ongoing concerns about biased and unprofessional conduct by the media house.

In a press release issued on Sunday, January 26, 2025, and signed by the party’s communications director, Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP expressed frustration over months of unsuccessful engagement with Media General’s management and hosts to address the issues.

The party pointed to repeated misconduct, including inflammatory remarks and unbalanced political discussions that have not been adequately addressed despite numerous complaints.

A key point of contention was the failure of hosts to moderate disrespectful comments, such as a recent incident where a regular guest made disparaging remarks about former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, which were met with laughter from the host rather than any corrective action.

The NPP also criticized the structure of TV3’s political shows, which they claim consistently favor opposing political views and fail to provide a fair platform for party representation.

The statement concludes by urging Media General to adopt a more balanced approach to news presentation, emphasizing the need to serve the public fairly rather than pushing biased narratives.
