70% of Ghanaians Believe Country Is Heading in the Right Direction – Survey

Public optimism grows as economic indicators improve and confidence in government rises

Story Highlights
  • 70% of Ghanaians believe the country is moving in the right direction
  • Only 20% feel the nation is headed the wrong way
  • Optimism is widespread across all regions except Ashanti

A recent national survey by Global InfoAnalytics reveals a rising wave of optimism among Ghanaians, with 70% of respondents now confident that the country is moving in the right direction — up from 62% in April 2025.

Released on July 1 by Mussa K. Dankwah, Pollster and Head of Research at Global InfoAnalytics, the latest poll shows a significant shift in public mood. Only 20% of voters feel the country is headed off course, a drop from 26% just a few months earlier.

The online survey, conducted between May 10 and May 20, 2025, collected responses from 1,092 voters across all regions, achieving a 99% confidence level with a margin of error of ±3.82%. Interestingly, all regions except the Ashanti Region — traditionally a stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party — expressed optimism about Ghana’s future.

This boost in confidence aligns with recent positive economic indicators, including the Ghanaian Cedi’s appreciation, easing inflation, lower fuel and import costs, and a current account surplus led by stronger gold and cocoa exports. The government’s first 120 days under President John Dramani Mahama, marked by promises of economic recovery and reform, may also have helped lift public spirits.

Overall, the survey highlights growing faith among Ghanaians in the government’s ability to guide the country toward stability and growth, signaling hope that the nation’s economic challenges are beginning to ease and that brighter days lie ahead.

Below is the detail of the survey.
