A powerful rainstorm wreaked havoc on Tepa Abonsuaso in the Ahafo Ano North Municipal area of the Ashanti Region on Thursday evening, causing widespread destruction.

The storm ripped off roofs, brought down more than 40 structures including schools and left four people injured. The victims were promptly hospitalized and are currently receiving medical care.

Over 100 residents were displaced as their homes collapsed, with many describing the frightening experience as they sought refuge from the storm’s fury. Affected families have urgently appealed for assistance from the authorities to aid their recovery.

Hon. Frederick Nyamekye, the assembly member for the Abonsuaso electoral area, expressed deep concern over the damage, promising to help residents rebuild.

“We are working relentlessly to provide immediate relief and to ensure long-term solutions for the community’s recovery,” he stated.

Antwi Ernest, the NADMO Zonal Coordinator for Abonsuaso, visited the site to assess the damage and confirmed that a report has been sent to Tepa for further action. “We have documented all the affected persons and properties to ensure timely support,” he added.
