30-Year-Old Man Arrested for Possession of Harmful Drugs and Unlicensed Firearm

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has apprehended a 30-year-old man, Aminu Amidu Mohammed, for trafficking dangerous drugs and illegally possessing a firearm at his residence in Sabon Zongo, Accra.
His arrest was made possible through a tip-off from a vigilant community watchdog group, followed by swift action from the Regional Intelligence Unit. During the operation, police discovered a stash of prescription-only drugs, including Gebedol and other opioids commonly referred to on the street as “Red.”
Speaking at a press briefing held on Monday, May 26, at the Regional Police Headquarters, DCOP Duuti Tuaruku confirmed that the suspect has already been brought before the court.
He urged citizens to stay involved and alert in the collective fight against crime.
“The Police commend the public for their support and announce the arrest and prosecution of a suspect involved in the possession and distribution of harmful drugs, as well as the illegal possession of a firearm,” DCOP Tuaruku stated.
