The administration of President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to scale down the 2025 Independence Day celebrations, with the event now to be held exclusively at Jubilee House as part of efforts to cut costs.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications, explained that the regional rotational celebrations, which have previously been held across different parts of the country, will be paused this year.
He noted that the 2023 event had cost the country GH¢15 million, prompting the government to prioritize more efficient spending.
Kwakye Ofosu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring fiscal responsibility while continuing to fulfill its primary responsibilities.
