Hon. Kofi Adams, Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, has emphasized that Ghana requires experienced leadership, not political newcomers, to navigate the current hardships ahead of the December 7 general elections.
Speaking on the Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko, Mr. Adams argued that NDC Presidential Candidate, John Mahama, is the right choice.
He pointed out that Mahama, having served as both Vice President and President, is well-versed in the demands of the presidency and would not be overwhelmed by the responsibilities that come with the office.
He also underscored Mahama’s clean track record, stating that despite various investigations, including the airbus saga, no evidence of corruption has been found against him.
“If you’re a President and you leave office, it’s common to spend years investigating any potential corruption. Mahama was thoroughly investigated by both the former and current Special Prosecutors, yet all allegations, including the airbus scandal, were found to be untrue. Here you have a leader with a clean record, someone who has been scrutinized and proven innocent. In contrast, there are many rumors about his opponent, but no thorough investigation. There’s no reason to reject Mahama and choose Bawumia, who could only worsen the situation,” he stated.
The MP for Buem Constituency criticized Dr. Bawumia’s role in Ghana’s current economic challenges.
He argued that while Bawumia, as Vice President, was expected to help restore the economy, he has failed to do so.
“Akufo-Addo brought Bawumia in with the expectation that he would fix the economy, but he has failed. If given the responsibility for the entire country, it would only lead to greater disaster,” Mr. Adams warned.
Mr. Adams also suggested that Bawumia had misled President Akufo-Addo, which will become clear after the latter leaves office.
“Simply put, Bawumia was brought in to fix the economy, but he has failed. Giving him control over all sectors would lead to disaster,” he warned.
Mr. Adams concluded by urging the people of Asanteman to reject Bawumia and vote for Mahama, who he described as the experienced and capable alternative.
