A tragic accident at Doninga in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region has claimed two lives and left eleven others injured.

The collision, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025, involved a sprinter bus and a pickup truck.

According to Mr. Adonbire, the driver of the sprinter, the accident happened when the pickup truck, in a reckless overtaking attempt, lost control and crashed into his vehicle, killing its two passengers on the spot.

Mr. Adonbire stated that he was traveling from Wa in the Upper West Region to Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region when he noticed the pickup trailing him.

He said shortly after crossing the Doninga bridge, the pickup truck overtook his vehicle improperly, veered off course, and slammed into the sprinter.

Emergency responders confirmed the deaths of the two victims from the sprinter, while eleven others—six males and five females—are receiving treatment at the Sandema Municipal Hospital.

The incident has been reported to the Sandema police, who have launched an investigation to establish the precise cause of the crash.
